LUCO 2: Advising Notes & Reminders

 

Day 1

Dress Code:

Professional/business casual (no jeans), name tag

Day 1 Lunch Time/Location:

12 noon – 1:30 p.m. in Sullivan 203

Day 1 Parent Lunch Reps:

12:30-1:30 p.m. in Simpson Dining (please arrive by 12:15)

Advising Reps:  Cindy & Talaya

ALEKS Placement Update:

Will be available around noon for students who take ALEKS earlier in the morning (Joe will email results).

Writing Placement Update:

It may take up to seven days between when a student completes a writing sample to when results are evaluated and then updated in LOCUS; so students who took completed the assessment yesterday (there were a lot of them apparently) may not yet have results.  If a student completed the assessment and is awaiting their results, remind them to utilize the schedule change website once their assessment has been completed.  Recommend that the student add a core class in the meantime as a place holder.

Rotations: 

Report to IC/3rd Floor at least 15 minutes before your first rotation

Remember:

  • Log into Skype/IM
  • Prompt OL/students to watch videos at edu/advising/incomingstudents
  • Distribute AP/IB/dual credit form
  • Instruct students to copy course recommendations from intake form to other page
  • Collect AP/IB/dual credit form and intake form

Day 2

Dress Code:  

Upper = Loyola gear, name tag.  Lower = jeans ok (no leggings, no shorts), comfortable shoes.

Rotations: 

Report to IC/3rd Floor at least 15 minutes before your first rotation

Maroon = 8:00-9:00 a.m.

Black = 9:10-10:10 a.m.

Grey = 10:20-11:20 a.m.

Gold = 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

*Hanna is covering Katrina’s rotations on Day 2

*Joyce is covering Leah’s rotations on Day 2

All groups/space allocations are the same as Day 1.  Snacks are available on the island.

Foreign Languages/Performing Arts:

Faculty from these units will be available in the center of the IC for student consultation on placement-related questions.

Taking ALEKS on Day 2:

This is for students who did not realize for whatever reason that they should have taken ALEKS on Day 1.  Please direct any student wishing to take ALEKS to the 3rd floor of the IC at 2 p.m. on Day 2.  To be clear, students who took ALEKS on Day 1 are *not* eligible to retake it on Day 2 to improve their score – they must first complete online learning modules before they are eligible to retake the exam.

Remember:

  • Collect copy of student’s schedule and signed/initialed registration checklist; collate with AP form and intake form collected on Day 1
  • Add any special/pertinent notes in LOCUS (you do not need to leave a note for each student)

(two stay in Sullivan 260, two go to ALEKS testing site)
